lyrics
b7 e
there are no nonbelievers in the depths of a foxhole
let me light myself on fire
and pray the lord will save my soul
will i die a martyr or will i go to hell
c d b7
i’ve already seen the worst, done things that i won’t tell
i have seen the terrors that lurk under the surface
while you hold onto what you claim to be your faith
b7 e
i have met the devil he holds a ballpoint pen
he signs away the lives of thousands of young men
prescribes me little pills
while he signs his little bills
he painted his house white
to cover up his lies
c d
landlord special scorch marks
b7 em
oh, the scorch marks
so let me light myself on fire
for the whole world to see
the police draw their guns
and i fell onto my knees
c d b7 em
there are no nonbelievers in the depths of a foxhole
c d
let me light myself on fire
b7
pray the lord will save my soul
will i die a martyr? will i go to hell?
i’ve already seen the worst, done some things that i won’t tell
